We are making accommodations to extend the number of days for which we will reinstate policies that cancel for non-payment.. Specifically, anyone that lives in the affected area whose policy cancels for non-payment between 8/28 and 9/10, we are giving extra time to call in for a reinstatement with a statement of no loss.
For individuals that did not have an active policy prior to the flood, or only had liability coverage and are seeking to purchase coverage now, we have had a physical damage coverage moratorium since the Wednesday before the storm and it is still currently active from Aransas county to Jefferson County. We know that some of the areas are no longer flooded, but approximately 1/3 of the claims that we have received so far are for individuals that drove their vehicles into flood waters. We plan to open up the ability to bind physical damage coverage on Monday.
Please advise your clients not to delay reporting claims because there is going to be a backlog of vehicles needing appraisals and the claims reported early will get adjusted sooner than claims that get reported a week from now.
